Cuccia

David Cuccia received his Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University Medical School in 2000 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at LSU Health Science Center, New Orleans, LA, in 2004, where he was Chief Resident in Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine from 2004-2005. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and by the Institute of Functional Medicine.

Career highlights include three years (2001-2004) as Emergency Room and House/ICU Staff at St. Charles General Hospital; four years (2001-2005) as Emergency Room Staff at Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Mandeville, LA, and as House Medical Staff at Family Physicians Center; Marrero, LA; one year as Emergency Room House Staff at Ochsner Clinic Foundation, New Orleans, LA; one year as Physician Leader at Singing River Hospital System – Ocean Springs and Pascagoula, MS, where he developed and coordinated a severe sepsis protocol and treatment pathway, led the Crash Cart and Extubation protocol teams, and was a member of the Critical Care Committee, which developed treatment protocols, monitored mortality, Code Blue occurrences, and reviewed morbidity data. From June 2007-July 2008 he was an Independent Hospitalist at Slidell Memorial Hospital and North Shore Regional Hospital, Slidell, LA, where he was Medical Director, Inpatient Hospitalist Services from July 2008-February 2009. From March 2009 -April 2012, he practiced Internal Medicine as part of the St. Tammany Physicians Network, Covington, LA. From April 2012-September 2013, he was Medical Director at All American Medical and Chiropractic, an integrated medical/chiropractic practice with a focus on physical rehabilitation, nutrition and lifestyle management. From May 2013 – June 2014 he was a partner in Cuccia-Egan Medical Clinic and Spa, practicing Functional Medicine in a group practice that also included aesthetics.

Dr. Cuccia is currently in private practice in Functional Medicine, which involves understanding the etiology, prevention, and treatment of complex, chronic disease through an integrative, science-based healthcare approach that treats illness and promotes wellness by focusing assessment on the biochemically unique aspects of each patient, and then individually tailoring interventions to restore physiological, psychological and structural balance. Since May 2014, he has also been Staff Physician at Springfield Wellness Center, responsible for the care of patients receiving IV nutritional therapy, supporting addiction withdrawal and overcoming anxiety, depression, chronic or acute stress, and PTSD.

Dr. Cuccia has been featured on St Tammany Parish HealthQuest TV series as a guest physician providing insight into hypertension (2011) and pre-diabetes and diabetes (2010); has been featured in Health and Fitness Lifestyle magazine, May 2010 on “Treating the Thyroid,” and St. Tammany Heart to Heart, Spring 2010, on “Combat Type 2 Diabetes Risk.”
